We had a great time in Salmon Idaho at Rally In The Pines last week. We literally and figuratively cleaned up. With thousands of people and hundreds of buggies of all kinds, it was a really fun and busy week. Drivers were offered several organized and self-guided rides each day through the beautiful mountains in the Salmon area.
We wanted to give a shout out to Meg, her husband Blake, their sons Myron and Curtis and all their staff for organizing and bringing Rally In the Pines to Salmon Idaho this year. We will see you for Rally In The Pines 2019.
Everyone was in a good mood and there were many vendors ready to supply anything you needed or wanted for your buggy. TKO pretty much sold and installed all of our RotoPax fuel tanks, mounts, fuel spouts, fire extinguishers, and clamps and several more orders were placed.
It’s always a good idea to plan ahead and make sure you are well prepared for any outing. The day before the event started Chris, one of the guides for this year’s rally found out the hard way when he ran out of fuel while testing one of the long routes (150 plus miles) that was planned for the riders this year. Chris was lucky enough that he was in a spot that allowed him to coast down the trail the last several miles and ended up near the event location where he was able to get some fuel. TKO Clamping Systems installed two Rotopax fuel containers and a fire extinguisher for Chris on his buggy. He won’t be caught high and dry again.
Even though Chris warned the drivers about what happened to him, 3 or 4 buggies ran out of fuel on the long ride this year. However, with most everyone prepared for the ride, other riders had enough fuel to get everyone back down the mountain.
A lot of people were also reminded of last years sad accident where one of the buggies caught on fire and everyone had to watch it burn to the ground because no one had a fire extinguisher with them. Luckily no one was hurt. Even though they had extra fuel with them it also served as a reminder that it’s not the safest thing to have a spare gas can laying in the back of your buggy above the engine and all the heat.
Rotopax fuel containers and our refillable fire extinguishers can mount to the roll bar where they are secure from rattling around and can be kept away from engine heat.
Stories like this helped spur sales at the TKO booth and kept us busy installing Rotopax fuel containers and fire extinguishers every day.
We made a lot of new friends including Steve and the gang with Rugged Radios where we picked up a nice radio and intercom system for the TKO buggy. Rugged Radios was the Official Communications Sponsor and provided all of the Ride Leaders and Tail Gunners on the Group Rides with a Rugged Radio for complete communications! Check out their website and all their quality products.
Hundreds of drivers attend the driver briefing Friday morning.
With clear skies and the temperatures hot the conditions were perfect for dirty buggies and riders.
Saturday evening many of the vendors gave away prizes in the Rally Raffle. Sheila from Nampa Idaho won a Kidde Fire Extinguisher Kit including roll bar clamps and an installation tool from TKO Clamping Systems for her 2015 Polaris 900 four-seat buggy. Congratulations Sheila!
After cleaning up himself Stan gave the TKO buggy a bath and entered it in the Show and Shine Contest where we won 1st place in the Commercial Class.
Rally In The Pines was a great success for TKO and we look forward to attending next year.
Our next adventure will be the Goodguys 31st Pacific Northwest Nationals in Puyallup Washington July 27-29. Come see us if you are in the Pacific Northwest. It should be a great show.
